This learning conversation centered on how to ensure that we leverage the power of educational technology to accelerate learning — particularly now, as millions of students have fallen behind due to lost instruction time as a result of school closures during the pandemic.
The panelists — experts from the educational technology field — covered a wide array of topics. They discussed the six core elements of success for school districts; success factors for engaging and supporting parents and families as they navigate technology with their children; how to best leverage technology in the out-of-school space; ways to equip and support providers working in after-school and summer programs; and opportunities in the early childhood sector, including the importance of attending to meaningful, culturally inclusive learning opportunities.
Panelists included Shawn Joseph, Ed.D., of Howard University (moderator); Valerie Truesdale, Ph.D., of AASA, The School Superintendents Association (opening and closing remarks); and presenters Amanda LaTasha Armstrong, M.S., of New America, Maria Alvarez of Common Sense Media, Lydia Logan of Digital Promise and Mark Williams of BellXcel.
