While effective school leadership is critical to student success across the Pre-K-12 continuum, principals serving students in Pre-K-3rd grade need a specific set of competencies to effectively lead their teachers and staff and collaborate with early learning educators, families and community partners. These competencies, ranging from understanding child development to fostering strong teacher collaboration, are essential for creating successful early childhood learning environments and driving meaningful changes that benefit young learners. Join us for an engaging and informative conversation investigating what an effective P-3 principal looks like and how they create the conditions for children and families to transition successfully from the early years and through the early grades. In this session, co-sponsored by the National P-3 Center and the National Association of Elementary School Principals, attendees will hear directly from elementary school principals achieving success in their communities and from national experts who will delve into these critical leadership competencies.

Attendees will hear from:

  • Gracie Branch, Ph.D., Associate Executive Director, National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP)
  • Kristie Kaurez, Ed.D., Research Professory, University of Colorado, Denver; Executive Director, National P-3 Center
