Dr. Orrin White is the Director of College and Career Success at the United Way of Delaware. Orrin is working statewide and nationally on the design, application, and evaluation of effective strategies and programming to improve outcomes for especially high need youth populations. Currently, he is leading a statewide effort to build districts/schools capacity to engage and align the broader education community in ways that make student success possible with a specific focus on social emotional learning. This effort is anchored in CASEL’s current strategic focus of equity and integration of academic and SEL instruction. Orrin has led the evolution of the organization’s youth development work—serving as lead for the statewide My Very Own Library initiative impacting 6k+ students per year aimed at improving the academic foundation by way of access to literature and supporting materials. He also co-chaired the statewide Summer Youth Employment collaborative which works to ensure 500+ youth annually are served and achieve a meaningful multi-year career experience that prepares them for college or transitions directly into the workforce. Orrin completed his doctoral studies at West Chester University in May 2020 and currently serves as a member of the WCU MPA Alumni Advisory Board. He also serves on the State Leaders Career Development Network chaired by Dr. V. Scott Solberg, and is an initiate of Pi Alpha Alpha, the International Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration. He is also credited with successful completion of a United Way Worldwide Global Fellowship and a former 40 under 40 honoree.
