Dr. Miah Daughtery is the Vice President of Academic Services for Literacy at NWEA, where she builds systems to improve literacy outcomes for students. Prior to joining NWEA, she was a reading and English teacher for 10 years, a district literacy specialist, the state literacy coordinator for the Tennessee Department of Education, the Director of literacy for Achieve, and the Executive Director of Professional Learning for Odell Education. She earned her B.A in English at the University of Michigan, her M.Ed in Reading at Wayne State University, and her Ed.D in Public Policy and Educational Administration from the Peabody School of Education at Vanderbilt. She has an extensive background in professional learning, curriculum design, assessment and leadership. She believes literacy is an ethical and social justice issue, and she prides herself on finding books for reluctant readers.
