Karine Apollon

Karine brings over 30 years of educational leadership experience with a long-standing commitment to literacy, youth development and Family and Community Engagement (FACE). She is the former CEO of Reading Partners, a national nonprofit that mobilizes communities to provide individualized literacy tutoring. Prior to being the CEO of Reading Partners, Karine was a highly skilled and valued leader at Scholastic, Inc. for over 20 years. As Vice-President and General Manager, she spearheaded and brought to national scale numerous literacy and mentorship initiatives centered on expanding literacy opportunities for students. Karine launched the Scholastic Family and Community Engagement (FACE) business in 2009. FACE improves literacy development and raises academic achievement in underserved communities by increasing access to books, mentoring and other literacy resources through an integrated family, school and community engagement model.
