John Johnson

Parent Leader

Leadership Council on Assessment and Accountability National Parents Union

John Johnson is a dedicated Network Engineer Professional and passionate parent advocate. Beyond his professional and advocacy work, John is a devoted father to four children. He has three boys ranging from 18 to 22 years old and a 7-year-old little girl. His role as a father has further fueled his passion for creating a better future for all students. John’s dedication, expertise, and positive attitude make him a standout Network Engineer Professional and a passionate advocate for education. His contributions continue to drive the success of his organization and the betterment of his community and beyond.

In addition to his professional achievements, John is a passionate advocate for students and education. As a Parent Advocate for the National Parent Union (NPU) and Transform Education Now (TEN), he is dedicated to advocating for student bodies across the United States, with a particular focus on students of color. John works tirelessly to hold educational institutions accountable and to bridge the educational gaps in communities. He consistently strives to create equitable opportunities for all students by communicating with government leaders to prioritize bills that address educational disparities in lower economic to middle-class neighborhoods.

John’s concern with public education centers on the transparency between educators and parents. He believes that students of color are not always held to the same standards of excellence as their peers in middle to higherclass schools. John feels that many educators are satisfied if students of color merely pass, rather than expecting them to hold high positions of power in the professional world. He prays for a change in this narrative and works tirelessly to advocate for his children and others.

John is a strong advocate for his children and is very involved in their schools, engaging in with teachers and sometimes feeling defeated. He empathizes with parents who trust the school system without being actively involved. John is blessed to have children who do well academically, but he acknowledges that his advocacy has played a significant role in their success. He prays for closer collaboration between parents and educators and for laws that will create better opportunities for all students.
