MENTOR

David Shapiro is the CEO of MENTOR, the national organization unifying and elevating the mentoring movement through expertise, training, advocacy, and awareness. A servant leader of the field for more than 15 years locally and nationally, David has dedicated his career to working across sectors and driving equity through the power of relationships. During his leadership, MENTOR has partnered with leading global brands including the NBA, Nike, Starbucks, LinkedIn, Microsoft to expand the mentoring movement through cause elevation; grown its national footprint to include 25 local Affiliates nationwide providing on the ground expertise; and worked extensively with the Obama Foundation to center mentoring through My Brother’s Keeper. Additionally, MENTOR was selected in 2014 by the U.S Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to establish and lead the National Mentoring Resource Center.  He is a mentor, a Boston Public School (BPS) parent of 8th and 11th graders, and the husband of a BPS elementary educator. Shapiro serves as an emeritus board member of the Mass Nonprofit Network and Common Impact, a board member for the Institute of Non-Profit Practice and Friends of the Children National and a Trustee for America’s Promise Alliance.
