Beth Campanelli is WED Speech and Language Department Chairperson with the Woonsocket Education Department in Rhode Island. Beth spent her career as a servicing speech and language pathologist in the city’s early childhood building which housed their PreK to Grade 2 population. In addition to her work in the Woonsocket public schools, Beth has worked as a home based Early Intervention therapist. Beth has a specialized interest and training in the use of visual supports to enhance functional communication, language development, pragmatic language skills and behavioral expectations for both general and special education student populations. In 2018, Beth was named department chairperson of the speech-language pathologists in the Woonsocket Education Department. The department chairperson position roles and responsibilities includes the supervision and mentorship for 28 speech and language pathologists as well as being the local education advocate for all elementary students who receive related services as part of their education plan. In 2020, Beth was appointed as the PreK to K Transition Coordinator for the district. This role began with creating a summer transition team that created resources for incoming kindergarten students to support successful adjustments to school. In 2022, this role expanded to include the First 10 Group leadership. This PreK to K transition work continues to develop and includes activities such as Preschool Play & Learn groups, Passport to Kindergarten events, Community and School Partnership and more.
