Atyani Howard has over 20 years of experience in education as a teacher, principal, Chief Academic Officer, and non-profit executive. She is committed to creating exceptional learning spaces where all stakeholders can meet their full potential. After starting her journey in Chicago Public Schools, Atyani helped to transform Camino Nuevo Charter Academy into an award-winning network of P-12 schools in Los Angeles. Atyani’s leadership is rooted in the fact that education is a human endeavor. So, while research, curriculum, and data are key to improved classroom practice — equally important is a robust coaching culture that meets teachers at their entry point, supports them to optimize and hone their craft, and retains them in the profession over time. Within the education nonprofit sector — formally a Vice President of Academics at TNTP, and now, Chief Program Officer at New Teacher Center — Atyani is applying her theory of change: by developing high quality instructional cultures, we can disrupt inequity and transform systems, schools, and classrooms across the country
