Araceli Chavez is currently the director for family and community engagement at the California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE). Prior to her joining CABE, she served as the coordinator for family and community engagement at the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD), where she helped secure seed money to pilot the first two community schools in areas of great need in Anaheim. Araceli is a proud parent of four boys, all in public education. Her passion with community schools work started with her active role as a parent/community leader and her involvement in her children’s schools. Her desire is to create systemic change in the way we do school and she believes this can happen by cultivating positive relationships in schools, with students, teachers, parents, and community partners.
