Dr. Angela Ashley currently serves as the Pre-K Counts Principal in the
School District of the City of York, where she has dedicated 16 years of
her career. With 25 years of experience in education, Dr. Ashley has held various roles, including fourth-grade teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools, Reading Specialist, Literacy Coach, Assistant Principal, and Supervisor of Curriculum for English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies.
As an advocate for literacy, Dr. Ashley’s passion lies in teaching young children how to become proficient and fluent readers. She has significantly contributed to the district’s Structured Literacy initiative over the past several years. Dr. Ashley earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Professional Studies from Holy Family University, focusing her research on the science of reading and how young children process literacy.
In addition to her doctorate, she holds a Master’s degree in Reading Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Dr. Ashley is committed to fostering a love of reading in her students and empowering them with the skills necessary for academic success.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Ashley enjoys traveling, particularly to the beach where she loves searching for treasures from the sea. She enjoys cooking with her husband, Tim, and cherishes quality time spent with her children, Timmy and Marissa, along with their beloved dogs, Roxie and Molly.
